Recipes By Rich Glen's Culinary Doyenne, Ros Vodusek

Culinary doyenne, Ros Vodusek shares a taste of her latest recipes, and her love for food at Rich Glen Olive Estate.

Rich Glen Estate is a place where visitors are invited to celebrate the seasons and relish simple flavours straight from the family farm in Yarrawonga - a place where Ros finds herself surrounded by inspiration.

Ros and her husband Daimien Vodusek run Rich Glen Olive Estate located on the banks of the mighty Murray River, producing more than 200,000 litres of extra virgin olive oil every year.

As a trained chef, her passion for fresh local ingredients began when she started to experiment with Rich Glen Estate's Signature Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) as a base ingredient, to cultivate a collection of food and skincare products that ultimately became the game changer for Rich Glen Estate.

Her passion inspired Rich Glen Olive Farm and Café, supplying friends and family with olive oil-based products from the back room of their Edwardian farm home. The products soon caught the attention of locals, and the business grew, taking over the entire house.

“That really changed things for us," says Ros. Today, Rich Glen Estate produces 150 extra virgin olive-oil based food and natural skin-care products on the estate and collaborates with regional farmers using ‘local’ ingredients where possible.

They grow olives, fruits, veggies, herbs, bush tucker foods and propagate plants on the thousand-acre farm. They also raise woolly sheep, gorgeous highlander cattle, lively goats, happy chickens, and healthy pigs.

“It's a very unique thing to do, to make good quality food and natural skin care products that nourish and nurture," she says. Ros is only too eager for her guests to have a glimpse into her humble, wholesome country way of life.

The 36,000-olive tree plantation estate is open by appointment for pre-booked tourism experiences. Rich Glen’s quality food and skin care products are available online or at the Provedore located in the town's main street in Yarrawonga.

The culinary doyenne has partnered with The Getaway Traveller to create recipes for us to enjoy during the wintery long weekend. Bon appetite x
