WINERY STEEPED IN HISTORY

Drive 10-minutes from Heathcote and you arrive at Munari Wines. The property is steeped in history, established in 1879 by Andrew Robert Morris.

The family of Andrew Robert Morris holds their place in Heathcote history, establishing Heathcote’s first hotel - the Mt Ida Hotel, now the site of the National Australian Bank, and turning his house into a second hotel when gaining a license. Andrew Robert established his home, named Moorburn after his Scottish family home, with a 3200 acerage. The original house and the former shearing shed for the working sheep farm is now Munari Wines.

Step inside the historic, beautifully renovated stables and enjoy a full range of wines. Originally producing a Shiraz and a red blend (now known as the Schoolhouse Red) the portfolio has increased to include all styles of wine including sparkling, white, red and dessert wines. The vineyard includes the infamous Heathcote Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and the newly grafted Italian grape, Sangiovese. Vermentino and the Grenache grapes - all sourced from nearby vineyards to complete the range.

“You should not be restricted by the past, complement old winemaking principles with the innovative techniques developed in the new world” says Adrian Munari who founded Munari Wines in 1993. He added, through an understanding of the soil and climate as well as sharing the same envisigiative spirit of Andrew Robert, Munari Wines delivers history, complexity and contrast.
